I spent a couple of days in London this week at the FutureCities catapult. They aim to link business up with academics to drive innovation in critical sectors for the UK economy, and for FutureCities they’re interested in improving city living and operation for their citizens.

There were some interesting conversations and presentations about engaging citizens to make decisions about their own environment. Most of them hinged on digital systems that had the opportunity to reach a lot of people but relied on them finding it the first place. The PhysiCAD systems could be used to engage citizens in Future City issues (like our work with Knowle West Media Centre). We think that its better to have a really rich and sophisticated engagement experience that is highly targeted to those most affected by urban issues. Using construction kits like LEGO means we can lower the skill-threshold needed to start having meaningful conversations and co-create practical solutions.
